Does anyone know of any exercises that can relieve menstrual cramps?
Reader Q and A February 13th, 2009
My tummy hurts! Please let me know if you know of some exercises that might alleviate the pain!
Thanks!
Midol doesn’t really help all that much, although I do take it for fatigue sometimes.
And-sex is painful for the first couple of days, so I’m not touching that!

i once tried kegels but made it worse. light exercise like walking maybe.
i just take painkillers (ponstan), drink water/ ginger tea, eat yoghurt and fruit to relieve cramps.

Midol….or ibuprofen and a heat pad works wonders. Takes the pain away.

Heating pads on the sore areas work. As do midol and ibuprofen. They say exercise works, but I’ve never tried it. Crawling off the couch and doing sit ups is usually the LAST thing I feel like doing…
Orgasms work too. Sex releases endorphins that can act like painkillers.

Sit-ups, leg lifts, and riding bicycles have worked well for me.
Take care and I wish you well.

There are not really any exercises that will ease the pain of period cramps. The things you can do is: several days before you expect your period start taking I B profen, this has an anti inflam effect and will help. Also cut out sugar and salt as much as possible since this can make cramps worse. Drink plenty of fluids and use a heating pad if it is really bad. During the rest of the month walk 3-5 times a week for approx 30 minutes and also do kegal exercises as they will tighten up your pelvic floor and help. Hope this helps

Exercises such as stretching and massage are an excellent way of loosening up a tight Piriformis muscle. Consequently, if it is tightness in this muscle which is responsible for your pain, your pain should soon begin to resolve itself.
