Should You Use Fluoride or Not?

Posted by Back Exerciser on December 13th, 2009

It is quite amazing when you stop to consider all of the different ideas and notions about proper dental care.  These seemingly conflicting theories leave the patient – or more accurately – the consumer, in a sea of bewilderment most of the time.

For instance, is fluoride in mouthwash and toothpaste good or bad? Many dental experts believe that toothpaste, mouthwash and even topical treatments of fluoride harden your teeth and are therefore good. Other researchers say that any fluoride containing product put in the mouth spikes blood fluoride levels. Fluoride apparently tends to accumulate in parts of the brain as well.

Research like that done by Dr. Phyllis J. Mullenix, PhD. clearly makes you question even small amounts of fluoride showing up in our drinking supply and food supply – as many foods are exposed to fluoridated water. She also discusses that when they wanted to study even lower doses of fluoride for extended periods of time, that her funding was cut.

There are even dentists who are against fluoride’s use in the human body for any reason. Confusing, isn’t it? Who do we listen too? I can’t answer that question definitively for you but here are some thoughts that I will share on this aspect of dental health.

I am personally against fluoridation of drinking water. Despite the arguments in favor of forced medication of our drinking supply, I think it is wrong to ‘force’ any medication on a population. This behavior effectively side steps each person’s right to choose. On the other hand, the choice of personal dental care products is just that: a choice. Each person as the right to choose whether he uses fluoridated rinse and toothpaste.

When it comes to adding fluoride to the drinking supply, many scientists and professionals are against the use of fluoride while many others are in support of it. When you have this kind of debate between scientists, isn’t it best to error on the side of caution?  Find out which tools can improve your oral health

An Introduction To Back Pain

Posted by Back Exerciser on December 11th, 2009

If you are an adult aged forty-five or above you will no doubt have experienced back pain at least once and certainly many more times in your life. This kind of pain can create a complete cessation in your ability to perform daily activities and it can stop further progress in your career as well. According to research findings, pain in the back is a real challenge for physicians who must use all their expertise to establish the true cause of this condition.

The human body depends on its spinal column for its stability as well as mobility. When a person bends or twists or flexes their bodies the spinal column has to facilitate such movements. Therefore, any problem with the spinal column will result in not only an ache in the back but also in impaired mobility and reduced stability.

Typically, pain in the back occurs because of spasms in the muscles that provide support to the spine and such spasms occur whenever a person lifts weights unwisely or when they bend over very sharply or sit in an uncomfortable chair.

Back pain can also be triggered by simple events such as sneezing or climbing into a car and also when bending to pick up the daily newspaper. Other reasons why people experience pain in their back include osteoporosis and also because of a viral infection as well as because of infected bladders and kidneys and even because of gynecological disorders.

Pain in the back is also caused by being overweight and by habitually wearing shoes with high heels and also when by carrying heavy loads. If you develop pain in your back you must first of all maintain a calm mind and not panic. Further to that you must take bed rest for between one and two days and during this time you must ensure taking a walk every once in a while so as to facilitate proper blood circulation and to also keep the muscles well toned.

You can also apply certain oils on the affected area as this will help in providing you with back pain relief. In case you are aged fifty and above you must get your condition checked by a doctor and the same is the case if your back pain occurs due to recent falls or because of traumas.

The best way to prevent back pain is to keep your muscles in good condition and to sit, stand and stretch in the proper manner.

You should also avoid bending at your waist to pick up things; rather you must lower your body to the same level as the object and then grasp the object and lift it while it is being held close to your body.
