The Phuket International Academy (PIA) is a pioneering sports, education, arts and wellness facility sited in Phuket, Thailand. It is comprised of three synergistic centres: the PIA Day School, the PIA Sports, Arts and Wellness Centre and the PIA Mind Centre. Located on the resort island of Phuket, Thailand, PIA is sited in a setting of natural beauty next to a national park. PIA works to realize Mind, Body and Spirit Wellness
The Phuket International Academy Day School (PIADS) is aspiring to achieve a three programme International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. As a pioneering international school in Phuket, it will incorporate distinctive Asian culture with the best from Western educational traditions, to cultivate inquiring, knowledgeable, and compassionate young people who know how to conduct their lives with honor, cultivate genuine happiness, and who work toward a more peaceful and sustainable earth. The PIA Day School has excellent facilities, teachers, trainers, staff and administration.
Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club (PIASLC) is partially completed, and will soon begin to offer a diverse of world-class sports, arts, wellness and recreational facilities and programmes for the enjoyment of the school’s pupils, their families, the local Phuket community and for visiting professional and amateur individual athletes and teams from around the glove. PIASLC will establish a benchmark as a regional destination for sports, arts and wellness in Thailand and Asia, and quite possibly the world.
Phuket International Academy Mind Centre (PIAMC) is currently under construction and will soon start to deliver training in the cultivation of cognitive and emotional balance. The PIAMC will deliver a combination of modern psychology and neuroscience in association with traditional Asian contemplative practices. Featuring accessibility, the PIAMC conducts retreats and seminars. Working in close relation with the PIA Day School and the Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club, the programmes offered through Phuket International Academy Mind Centre will contribute to participant’s improved mental equilibrium and wellbeing. April 10th marks the launch of the PIA Mind Centre (PIAMC) with a two-day “Genuine Happiness Retreat” led by Dr. B. Alan Wallace. The retreat incorporates two methods for cultivating meditative quiescence or shamatha. It teaches the practice of “mindfulness of breathing”, which is a successful way for relaxing the body and calming the mind. A second method taught is both a shamatha practice and vipashyana, “insight meditation” or “settling the mind in its natural state”.
PIA prides itself on being a responsible member of the community. It is committed to operating with integrity as an equal opportunity employer and adhering to the highest principled standards to realize the intellectual, physical, creative and spiritual potential of all students, members and participants of the three centres.
